AUBURNDALE -Thomas Michael Pozega, 85, of 11631 County Road M, Auburndale, died at 10:03 p.m. Monday, May 23, 2005, at the Saint Joseph's Hospital Palliative Care Unit in Marshfield.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2005, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Auburndale. The Rev. Michael Schelble will officiate and Ashley Genett will be the organist for St. Mary's Choir and congregational singing. Burial will take place in Neillsville City Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted.
The visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at Rembs/Kundinger Funeral Home in Marshfield and from 10 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church in Auburndale. A St. Mary's parish prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Tom was born Aug. 4, 1919, in Willard, the son of Thomas and Anna Pozega. He attended rural Willard schools. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II from March 3, 1942, until his honorable discharge on Oct. 1, 1947. He married Joyce Eslinger on June 15, 1946, in Neillsville. She died on June 20, 1965. He later married Bernice M. Anderson on Dec. 16, 1967, in Auburndale. She died on Sept. 7, 2003.
Tom had been employed at Roddis Plywood Corporation and later Weyerhaeuser Company, Marshfield, from 1957 until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Auburndale, and the American Legion Post No. 54, Marshfield.
He is survived by two sons, Steven (Linda) Pozega of Humbird and Dennis (Beverly) Pozega of Prairie du Chien; and three stepsons, Ronald (Diane) Anderson, Kenneth (Karen) Anderson and Dale (Theresa) Anderson, all of Auburndale. He also is survived by five grandchildren, Rayeann Fritz, Steve (Shelly) Pozega, Tiffany Pozega, Jenny Pozega and Amanda Pozega; seven great-grandchildren; several stepgrandchildren; and stepgreat-grandchildren. He is further survived by a brother, Frank (Dorothy) Pozega of Willard; and four sisters, Marge Grzac of Chicago, Anna (Charles) Sackett of Alma Center, Christine Gertz of Anoka, Minn., and Frances Petkovsek of Marshfield.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wives; a brother, John; and three sisters, Helen, Mary and Lillith.
